Affordable Housing
Will you take the lead to amend zoning restrictions in order to free up land so as to lower costs of housing for first-home buyers?
  Yes
Auckland has a developing housing shortage and a growing need for significantly more housing stock. New areas need to be developed in a way that is consistent/in keeping with local character and will fit with transport links. I consider clustering to be ideal in rural areas. I will also be keen to reinvigorate inner city areas by revising zoning to encourage redevelopment.

Alcohol Outlets
Will you introduce bylaws and lobby for the restriction of alcohol outlets in residential areas and reduce the number of licences issued and trading hours
  Yes
I agree that abuse of alcohol is a problem. There are many costs to the community (monetary and social) that are a result of alcohol abuse. I consider initiatives to reduce abuse of alcohol very worthwhile. However I don't see the limitation of outlets as a total solution as there are other things including individual attitudes that are a big factor. I agree that community (in line with my "Keep it Local" policy) should have input.

Billboards
Will you introduce bylaws and lobby for G-rated public billboards with a pre-vetting system
  Yes
Yes I agree that billboards should be G-rated.

Brothels
Will you introduce and lobby for bylaws restricting brothels in residential areas and close to sensitive sites such as schools, kindergartens, playgrounds and shopping areas frequented by families and children
  Yes
Yes I agree that the law does need tidying up in this respect. Already there have been too many local disputes where resources and time are being wasted arguing an issue that could be easily settled by law.

Facilities for family events
Will you introduce a bylaw preventing the hireage and use of Council owned buildings and facilities for R-rated events?
  No
provided that (a) the hireage does cover the cost to ratepayers and (b) the function is a closed private event, I would not introduce a restriction.

GST on Rates
Will you campaign for parliament to remove GST on Rates?
  Yes
Yes in principle i.e. "a tax on a tax" seems odd however I recognise that the simplicity and near total coverage of the current GST system is often commended and the likelihood of a change is not high.

Loan Sharks
Will you lobby the government for greater regulation of loan sharks - especially those targeting lower socio-economic areas - including capped interest rates and registration
  Yes
No additional comment provided

Pokies
Will you introduce and lobby for a reducing lid policy on pokie machines, especially in low socio-economic areas
  Not Sure
No additional comment provided

Public nudity / marches
Will you lobby the government to clarify offensive behaviour under the Crimes Act in order to prevent parades involving nudity and/or offensive behaviour eg boobs on bikes, beach nudity
  Yes
I agree that the term "offensive behaviour" needs clarification however I would seek feedback from voters before actively blocking a parade.

Street Prostitution
Will you introduce and lobby for bylaws to ban street prostitution?
  Yes
No additional comment provided
