Will you introduce a bylaw preventing the hireage and use of Council owned buildings and facilities for R-rated events?

Not Sure Not sure it can work, I don't know what events this could relate to
No I am not sure of this being an issue in the region. I believe different groups in the community should have the right to use Council facilities as long as they meet the application criteria, respect Council property and not harm or interfere with others, then they should be allowed to use them as they see fit.
Yes Any R-rated events should not take place in publicly owned buildings owned/operated/controlled by the Council. The same as smoking is not permitted in public buildings.
No provided that (a) the hireage does cover the cost to ratepayers and (b) the function is a closed private event, I would not introduce a restriction.
No I am a very strong proponent of Freedom of Expression and am satisfied with the extensive terms and conditions that already apply for the hireage and use of Council owned buildings and facilities. A Council facility such as the Aotea Centre does not become contaminated as a facility for family events merely by also hosting plays, concerts or dance pieces that may contain adult themes, language and nudity. As an R-rating is always in the eyes of the beholder, it is impossible to monitor. I have no interest and will play no role in imposing arbitrary, subjective or ideological restrictions of any kind in this area. So long as as the law is obeyed and the extensive terms and conditions that already apply for the hireage and use of Council owned buildings and facilities are met, I am highly satisfied.
